The identified need for the hypothetical project at the Negro League Baseball Museum is to improve the quality and consistency of gallery interpretation provided by volunteers. The current lack of structured training results in varied interpretation quality, impacting the guest experience negatively.
To address this, the proposed solution is the development of a comprehensive Volunteer Gallery Interpreter Training Program. This program aims to equip volunteers with the necessary knowledge and skills to offer engaging and informative interpretations. The training will cover the history of the Negro Leagues, effective communication techniques, and storytelling methods, utilizing interactive learning experiences. The project involves collaboration with instructional designers, museum staff, and volunteer facilitators to develop and deliver the training curriculum. Key success factors include delivering comprehensive training materials, engaging volunteers effectively, receiving positive feedback, and improving volunteer retention and satisfaction. The project will be executed in phases, including needs assessment, curriculum development, facilitator recruitment and training, program implementation, and continuous evaluation. The ultimate goal is to enhance the overall guest experience at the museum through improved volunteer interpretation.
